What is polyurethane?
A plastic with a very wide range of applications. PU is essentially a two-component system: isocyanate and polyol. The combination of these liquid components and additives, such as catalysts, foaming agents or stabilizers, sets off a chemical reaction. By modifying the composition and proportions of the mixture, the properties of the polyurethane that is formed are precisely controlled, yielding a material with varying stiffness and flexibility to suit specific requirements. PU is characterized by its resistance to numerous aggressive chemicals, so it often replaces traditional materials such as rubber, metals or ceramics.
