The main ratios are important if we want to increase or decrease the engine speed in a given gear. The larger the number describing the Crownwheel & Pinion Set, the more turns the shaft at the gearbox will have to make in relation to one revolution of the output shaft. Increasing the gear ratio will similarly reduce the speed in all gears available in the car.
